Google is looking to redesign their Maps app, and with that comes the discontinuation of Google Latitude. The service will be shut down on August 9th, so you still have a bit of time to use it to its fullest, but soon Latitude and its various API’s will soon be no more. You will also no longer be able to check-in via the Maps app, but users can still use Google+ for its check-in functionality. It’s sad to see so many of Google’s services shut down. I know a lot of people used Google Reader and Google Latitude. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s for the better.
