Draw Something, the insanely popular mobile game that was launched in 2012, will be coming to everyone’s television screens. Zynga (the developer of Draw Something), Ryan Seacrest’s production company, and Embassy Row (a TV format specialist) will be joining forces to turn it from a mobile app to a TV game show. According to VG247, the name of the show will be ‘Draw It!’ and it will be shown on Friday nights on Channel 4 in the UK. The format of the show involves two teams- each of them has one celebrity and one contestant- going against each other in three rounds where they have to draw against the clock to acquire gold coins. Whichever contestant collects the most gold coins is moved to the final round, where the two celebrities on the show have to correctly guess 5 sketches in 90 seconds so the contestant can win a cash prize. Despite the skepticism that most will have on this development, I actually think Draw Something can work in the TV format. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
