AT&T ranked #1 network in Las Vegas Aaron Rowe February 20, 2013 News AT&T gets criticized for a lot but the one thing that I have personally been able to stand by is the strength of their network. I have consistently said that AT&T’s LTE network is bar none out here in Las Vegas and it seems according to tests run by RootMetrics they have drawn the same conclusion. RootMetrics is an independent research firm out of Seattle recently conducted a wireless network performance study for Las Vegas and AT&T won overall for text performance, call quality and Internet speeds. AT&T launched LTE here in Las Vegas back in 2011 and they have not only continued to roll it out but strengthen it places where it already existed. Note that when you are in an area where there isn’t LTE you fall back on HSPA+. You can read the press release below. AT&T WIRELESS NETWORK RANKED NO. 1 IN LAS VEGAS Independent research firm RootMetrics awards top spot to AT&T in recent wireless network performance test LAS VEGAS, Feb. 15, 2013 — AT&T* wireless customers in Las Vegas are benefitting from a network ranked highest in the city by an independent research firm. RootMetrics®, an independent research and testing organization based in Seattle, recently released a wireless network performance study for Las Vegas, naming AT&T tied as the RootMetrics RootScore® Combined Award winner for its combination of call quality, text performance, and mobile Internet speed. The RootMetrics award is the result of nearly 18,000 wireless test calls, texts and mobile Internet transmissions conducted during October, 2012. “AT&T is tied for the highest rank in Las Vegas for overall network performance, according to our research conducted in October, 2012. We tested call, data and text performance across the Las Vegas area, including over AT&T’s 4G LTE network. As a result, AT&T tied for the RootScore Award for combined performance in the area,” said Bill Moore, RootMetrics CEO. AT&T launched 4G LTE** in Las Vegas in 2011, and it plans to expand its 4G LTE network to cover 300 million people by year-end 2014. Even as we execute these plans, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas with our 4G HSPA+ technology, unlike competitors, where smartphone customers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage. The testing period covering Las Vegas, released on November 7, 2012, measured 17,994 call, data, and text tests of mobile service experience by RootMetrics. The Report is proprietary to RootMetrics. Performance rankings are derived using data sampling and analysis methods that are subject to statistical variation. The results of the Report are not an endorsement of AT&T by RootMetrics.
